Please note that at least one of the authors should register to the congress in order for an accepted abstract to be published and displayed during the ESRA 2024.

RULES

(By submitting your abstracts,
you agree to these rules)

  • All abstracts must be submitted and presented in clear English with accurate grammar and spelling of a quality suitable for publication. If you need help, please arrange for the review of your abstract by a colleague who is a native English speaker, by a university scientific publications office (or other similar facilities) or by a copy editor, prior to submission.
  • The presenting author is requested to ensure that all co-authors are aware of the content of the abstract before submission.
  • Submission of an abstract acknowledges your acceptance for the abstract to be published on the Congress website and in the Congress journal supplement.
  • Only the abstracts of registered presenting authors will be included in the final programme.
  • Each person may submit up to 3 abstracts. The number of abstracts one person may be the presenting author is 3.
  • The Scientific Committee will determine whether abstracts will be accepted as Oral or e-poster presentations, with consideration to be given to the author’s preference. Abstracts will be reviewed and assigned to appropriate sessions.
  • All submitted abstracts must contain novel data. Abstracts stating “data will be discussed in the presentation” will NOT be accepted.
  • If an abstract was previously submitted to a different Congress but was not presented, it can be submitted to this Congress as well. If it was previously presented, it cannot be submitted to ESRA 2024.

GUIDELINES

(By submitting your abstracts,
you agree to these guidelines)

Before you begin, please prepare the following information:
1. Author and co-authors’ details: a) Full first and family name(s) b) Affiliation details: department, institution / hospital, city, state (if relevant), country,
c) email: please input the real email of each one of your co-authors. DO NOT copy/paste your own email for the co-authors, this will create a conflict with your own account.
Please note that you will not be able to change the list of authors after the deadline of submission.

You must create the list of authors through a specific form “Create a new author”.
Once created, you may add the authors (first author and co-authors), order them and select a presenter (the person who will be present and registered to the congress for presenting the abstract).
Each abstract can only have up to 8 authors, with up to 3 affiliations for each author.

2. Abstract title – limited to 25 words – The title must be in lowercase with a single capital letter at the beginning of each sentence.

3. Abstract text – limited to 250 words

4. Images, tables and graphs:

    • Graphs and images may be uploaded in a JPG format only. When including a table, it is recommended to save the table as an image and then upload it in to the abstract. A maximum of 3 images can be included per abstract.
    • The maximum file size of each graph/image is 500 KB. The maximum pixel size of the graph/image is 600(w) x 800(h) pixel. You may upload graphs in JPG format only.
    • The abstracts can be edited after submission until the submission deadline. Following the submission deadline, no changes can be made to abstracts.
    • Make sure that the name of each file does not include any special characters, and keep it as simple as possible.

5. Validation:

Initially, the abstracts are registered under “Draft” status. You will receive an email confirming the registration of your abstract and that it is in draft status. If you do not receive this email within 48 hours, please contact us.

When your abstract is in draft form, you may return to your account at any time to amend the contents or submit the final version. Abstracts with a draft status MUST be submitted formally before the deadline. When you click SUBMIT, your abstract will change to the status “Submitted”, and you will receive a confirmation of your submission by email.

Only abstracts with a “Submitted” status will be forwarded to the abstract reviewers for rating.

ABSTRACT LAYOUT

Abstracts must be submitted with the following sections:

Each of the abstracts, regardless of the type of presentation, will be allocated to a specific topic.

EVALUATION

All abstracts will be evaluated. However, at least one of the authors should register to the congress in order for an abstract to be published in the abstract book and displayed during the ESRA 2024.

ESRA ABSTRACT PRIZES

The scientific committee will judge the submitted abstracts and reach the final winner of each category based on the total score obtained after submission and presentation sub-scores, in each category; Regional Anaesthesia and Chronic Pain. There will be two awards: best free oral papers and best e-Posters. As the main aim is to promote investigation and research of our young members, the presenting author must be a trainee-resident-fellow no age limit, or an anaesthesiologist aged 35 years or less to be considered for the abstract prizes.
The Best Free oral and Best E-Poster Presenter awardees will be announced during the ESRA Awards Ceremony during the Congress. The 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners will receive their prize after the Congress.

Free oral papers awards

The rewards for the winners of the best free oral presentation for RA and for CP are:

  1. EUR 1,500 for the first place.
  2. EUR 1,000 for the second place.
  3. EUR 750 for the third place.

e-Poster awards
The rewards for the winners of the best e-Poster presentation for RA and for CP are:

  1. EUR 750 for the first place.
  2. EUR 500 for the second place.
  3. EUR 250 for the third place.

ABSTRACT SUBMITTER'S DECLARATION

Before submitting the abstract, the abstract submitter will be required to confirm the following:

  1. I, the Abstract Submitter, confirm that I previewed this abstract and that all information is correct. I accept that the content of this abstract cannot be modified or corrected after final submission and I am aware that it will be published exactly as submitted.
    2. Submission of the abstract constitutes my consent to publication (e.g. congress website, programmes, journal, other promotions, etc.)
  2. I, the Abstract Submitter, warrant and represent that I am the sole owner or have the rights of all the information and content (“Content”) provided to the ESRA Congress and MCO Congrès Group (Hereafter: “The Organizers”). The publication of the abstract does not infringe any third party rights including, but not limited to, intellectual property rights.
  3. I, the Abstract Submitter, grant the Organizers a royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable non-exclusive license to use, reproduce, publish, translate, distribute, and display the Content.
  4. The Organizers reserve the right to remove from any publication an abstract which does not comply with the above.
  5. I herewith confirm that the contact details saved in this system are those of the corresponding author, who will be notified about the status of the abstract. The corresponding author is responsible for informing the other authors about the status of the abstract.

Important note – Ethics Committee Approval

Only work that has received local animal or human ethics committee approval as appropriate will be considered for presentation and publication. A statement indicating ethics committee approval has been granted should be incorporated into the abstract and you will be requested to confirm that approval has been applied for/granted before you submit your abstract. When submitting your abstract, please upload your Ethics Committee Approval as an attached document in PDF.

Abstracts which have not received approval will not be accepted – unless they fit into the special categories below.

Ethical committee approval is required for the following scenarios:

  1. If there are patients involved in the study
  2. Anonymous Retrospective Data Collection – unless local committee authorizes otherwise
  3. Audit Study – unless local committee authorizes otherwise

Ethical committee approval is NOT required for the following scenarios:

  1. Questionnaire survey of medical personnel
  2. Case studies – with patient consent
  3. Literature reviews
  4. Historical research
  5. Research performed on artificial model
  6. Evaluation performed during pre-operative session – with receipt of informed consent.
